Local News & Local Business Highlights

A Major Addition Coming to West Roseville

Costco Wholesale Corp. is set to open its long-anticipated West Roseville location this month at Baseline Marketplace, marking the retailer’s second store in Roseville. The 160,529-square-foot warehouse will include both a gas station and car wash and is located near the northwest corner of Baseline and Fiddyment roads.

Costco purchased the site in Summer 2024 as part of the larger Baseline Marketplace, a planned 744,000-square-foot retail center. While additional tenants have not been officially confirmed, earlier city information suggested Home Depot and Target could join the development. The Sacramento Business Journal has also reported that Raising Cane’s has proposed a location within the same shopping center.

According to Costco’s website and confirmation from company representatives, the new store is scheduled to open January 23, adding another major shopping destination to Roseville’s rapidly growing west side.

Community Awareness: Red Sand Project in Placer County

Placer County is partnering with the global Red Sand Project to raise awareness about human trafficking and the often unseen vulnerabilities that allow it to persist in our communities. The initiative uses red sand, poured into cracks in sidewalks and public spaces, as a visual reminder of people who fall through the gaps of society and are at risk of exploitation.

Through community engagement, education, and local partnerships, the project encourages residents to learn the signs of human trafficking, understand how it affects individuals and families, and recognize ways to help prevent it. Placer County’s participation reflects a broader commitment to prevention, awareness, and support for victims across the region.
