Local News Spotlight
Roseville to Open its First-Ever Holiday Ice Rink

Get ready to glide into the holidays!
Downtown Roseville is getting its very first ice rink this season! The new synthetic ice rink at Vernon Street Town Square will be open Dec 7 – Jan 4, offering one-hour skating sessions for all ages.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $10 for kids 6–13, and free for little ones 5 and under. Expect family fun, twinkling lights, and plenty of seasonal charm — no freezing temps required.
Eco-friendly “ice”: The rink uses synthetic ice — specially engineered panels that feel like the real thing but can be enjoyed in any weather.
Skates provided: Guests must use the rink’s skates (personal skates aren’t permitted) for the best glide and safety.
Easy entry: Reserve your session online or scan a QR code at the rink for same-day tickets.
Location: Vernon Street Town Square

As the season of giving begins, Placer County Health and Human Services is spotlighting a few heartfelt ways to support families — and furry friends — across the county.
🐻 Stuffed Toy Drive:
The Older Adults Advisory Commission is collecting new stuffed animals for first responders to give during traumatic situations. Donations can be dropped off Nov. 1–30 at more than fifteen locations countywide.
🎁 Holiday Miracle for Kids:
Each year, HHS helps collect gifts for local foster children. With help from The Goularte Group, residents can visit HolidayMiracleProgram.com to choose a child’s wish tag and purchase a gift. Donations will be collected during a festive event on Dec. 13 at the Loomis Train Depot (5775 Horseshoe Bar Road).
🐾 Gifts for Shelter Pets:
Starting in December, Placer County Animal Services will host a lobby “giving tree” featuring wish-list tags for shelter animals. Monetary donations and supply lists are also available online at the PCAS website.
“Year after year, our community’s generosity shines,” said Dr. Oldham. “That spirit of giving brightens the holidays for families and pets throughout Placer County.”
Shop Small at the Loomis Christmas Gift Market
Loomis is getting festive!
The annual Christmas Gift Market returns Nov. 29–30 at the Loomis Veterans Memorial Hall (5945 Horseshoe Bar Road), showcasing more than 30 local vendors with handcrafted gifts, jewelry, cottage foods, and seasonal treats.
It’s the perfect stop for Shop Small Saturday — enjoy free admission and parking, plus festive cocktails, wine, and goodies while you browse. Doors open Saturday 10 AM–6 PM and Sunday 10 AM–3 PM.
Support local makers and find one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your list.
Rocklin Looks Ahead: A Vision for the Future of Northwest Parks
Big things are in the works for Rocklin’s parks — but this time, it’s all about planning for tomorrow. The City of Rocklin is developing a long-term master plan for three major park sites in Northwest Rocklin: Whitney Park Phase 2, Margaret Azevedo Park, and Kathy Lund Park.
This isn’t about construction just yet — it’s about creating a shared vision so when the time comes, Rocklin can build parks that truly reflect the community’s needs, ideas, and values.
A thoughtful master plan helps the city:
Prevent patchwork or piecemeal development
Design cohesive, functional spaces
Prepare for future funding and grant opportunities
Ensure every resident has a voice in the process
What’s Happening Now
The city has partnered with Melton Design Group (MDG) — an experienced landscape architecture firm — to lead research, design, and community engagement over the next year.
Here’s what’s ahead:
Fall 2025: Community workshops and engagement events
Winter–Spring 2026: Final plans, cost estimates, and City Council review
Upcoming Engagement Opportunities
Community input will help shape the future of Rocklin’s parks. Residents are invited to take part in these upcoming workshops:
Kathy Lund Park Focus Workshop
Thursday, November 20, 2025 | 5:00 – 6:15 PM (Virtual)
Margaret Azevedo Park Focus Workshop
Wednesday, December 3, 2025 | 5:00 – 6:15 PM (Virtual)
Whitney Park Focus Workshop
Thursday, December 4, 2025 | 5:00 – 6:15 PM (Virtual)
2nd Community Workshop
Thursday, February 12, 2026 | 5:00 – 6:15 PM
Rocklin Event Center 2650 Sunset Blvd., Rocklin
Participants can also complete an online survey to share feedback and ideas.
“This plan is about ideas and design, not construction,” city officials emphasize. “It’s a chance to build a roadmap now so we’re ready when funding opportunities arise.”
