November Brings Citrus, Community, and Change

Happy Veteran’s Day and Wreath-Laying at the Placer County Veterans Memorial!
Every year, community members gather at the Placer County Veterans Memorial—along with honor guards, veterans, and family members—to participate in a solemn but uplifting wreath-laying ceremony.
Also, the Placer County Veterans Monument at McBean Park is getting a new addition. Join the Placer County Veterans Monument on Tuesday, November 11th, for a Veterans Day Celebration honoring our local heroes. The event will include a flyover following the National Anthem, a patriotic bagpipe medley, and remarks from four local elected officials. A color guard presentation and 21-gun salute will conclude the ceremony in true tribute. This year’s celebration will also feature the unveiling of Panel #8 on the memorial wall—adding more names of Placer County veterans who have bravely served our nation.

More New Openings Coming to Granite Bay’s Nugget Market Center
Granite Bay’s growing shopping hub at Sierra College and Douglas boulevards is adding several new tenants, bringing even more variety to the community’s dining and service options.
SAFE Credit Union will open a 5,000-square-foot, stand-alone branch facing Douglas Boulevard early next year. The Folsom-based credit union, which serves 244,000 members across the region, is returning to Granite Bay with a more accessible, amenity-rich location. The new branch will feature a “connections bar” for laptops and devices, a 700-square-foot community room, and both indoor and outdoor ATMs.
Nearby, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt is set to join the center in a 1,190-square-foot space near Nugget Market. Operated by Roseville-based franchisee Gunjaz Yogurt LLC, the store will offer customizable frozen yogurt treats — a fun addition for families and shoppers alike.
Also on the way is Slice House, the popular pizza chain by celebrity chef Tony Gemignani, marking its second local location.
The 105,555-square-foot center already includes Nugget Market, Chick-fil-A, Crunch Fitness, La Bou, and Habit Burger & Grill. With these new arrivals, the once-quiet former Walmart site continues its transformation into one of Granite Bay’s busiest retail spots.
Orvis to Close Roseville Store at the Fountains, Escapology Set to Move In
Outdoor retailer Orvis has announced it will close its Roseville store at the Fountains at Roseville on December 24, 2025, citing “economic headwinds.” The Vermont-based company, known for its fly-fishing gear and outdoor apparel, has operated at 1017 Galleria Blvd., Suite 120, as its only Sacramento-area location.
Orvis President Simon Perkins said the closure was a difficult decision tied to broader economic pressures and an “unprecedented tariff landscape.” The company plans to close more than 30 stores nationwide by early 2026. Perkins added that Orvis remains committed to its customers and thanked Roseville staff and shoppers for their longtime support.
The space won’t sit empty for long. Escapology, a Florida-based escape-room entertainment chain, will take over the 5,200-square-foot site. The company expects to open its Roseville location by summer 2026, joining a growing lineup of new arrivals at the Fountains that includes Telefèric Barcelona restaurant and Brighton Collectibles.
Escapology, which is also developing a site in Sacramento’s Downtown Commons, offers immersive puzzle rooms where participants work together to solve challenges and “escape” within a set time.
With Orvis departing and Escapology arriving, the Fountains continues to evolve — balancing retail favorites with fresh, experience-driven attractions for local visitors.
